Folks, grab a soda and a box of popcorn or M&Ms, turn up the air conditioning and put on a sweater, turn off the light and take a minute and 41 seconds to watch this trailer of the new Oliver Stone movie. It's called, "W."

BTW, some of the comments on the Guardian site are pretty good. I especially like the one by dholliday, who wrote, "Yay, all the bad guys are in it."

Why a blog?

I'm one of those people who was lucky enough to have had a computer and the internet in the house when the operating system was Windows 286 (did I say 'lucky?'), and for whom the internet has become a constant tool at hand that I use for almost everything I need. Research is second nature: when I can't think of what to make for dinner, I google a list of what's in my refrigerator and see what comes up. When I want to know whether or not to trust a candidate, I find a list of his or her contributors.

A political animal by nature, I find the internet irresistible. The issues I find most compelling--those about election protection, voting rights, the integrity of the justice department, electronic voting machines--are the ones about which the internet is often the sole source. All politics ultimately lead to those issues. That those issues aren't on the front and editorial pages every day--or even sometimes--drives me insane.

When I read something that I think is well-written or insightful or startling or, well, news-worthy, I like to share. So I tend to send lots of emails that include links to the pieces I think other people will appreciate.

The reading is time-consuming, but often sending the links is even more so; I try to match the material I send to the people it will interest. (Yes, I think about each of you that often!) So this blog is the answer to my time-devouring dilemma, and hopefully, the solution to freeing up a little space in your in-box!

If you look around and find yourself returning often to a particular site, check to see if that site offers a feed you can add to your homepage or if it publishes a daily newsletter to which you can subscribe.
